so so grey

just discovered that i hv lost many photos taken in the past..included last time to the halloween, photos taken in high school in shanghai and trip to xin jiang, photos taken in my friend's place during summer 2004...so so grey..
just stored the photos in the laptop/desktop, but after several times of removal of files, those photo files disappeared..i also wanna know how come it would be that.... dawn it..
so so grey...i like taking photos and looking back at them ... they reflect wt i talk with fds at that time, reflect wt i saw, how i felt .... if there is an invention which could recall all lost photos it will be cool....but the reality is
now i will do more to secure the safety of all existing photos, i.e. print them out !!

Forrest Gump

My Mama always said: Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.
---Forrest Gump

When I can not find the grind of life getting me down, when the day-to-day struggle is threatening to drag me under. There is a movie out there that can replenish my energy and refresh my outlook. Passionate and magical, Forrest Gump is a tonic for the weary of spirit. I have seen this films for many times, and I know that this film adapt Winston’s novel of the same name , so the idea of reading the note book comes to me.

The book and the film are exactly similar, only the original work is that one is full of fantastic novels with a satiric flavour, but the film modifies and beautifies the story. Have abandoned the absurdity of the original work and revealed that satirizes meaning , have added a kind of tender feeling for the film. But the struggle spirit of the rebel of the original work is which cannot read in the film .

Forrest Gump , named after a civil war hero, grows up in Greenbow, Alabama, where his mother runs a boarding house. Although Forrest is a little "slow" (his IQ is 75, 5 below the state's definition of "normal"), his mental impairment doesn't seem to bother him, his mother, or his best (and only) friend, Jenny Curran . In fact, the naivete that comes through a limited understanding of the world around him gives Forrest a uniquely positive perspective of life.

During the next thirty years, Forrest becomes a star football player, a war hero, a successful businessman, and something of a pop icon. Through it all, however, there is one defining element in his life: his love for Jenny. She is never far from his thoughts, no matter what he's doing or where he is.

A serises of assets lift Forrest Gump above the average "lifestory" drama: its optimism, freshness, and emotional honesty. Though the novel does not seek to reduce every member of the audience to tears, it has moments whose power comes from their simplicity. Equally as important is laughter, and Forrest Gump has moments of humor strewn throughout.

During the 60s and 70s, no topic more inflamed the turbulent national consciousness than that of Vietnam and those who were sent overseas to fight. Forrest, as might be expected, has a singular viewpoint on his time spent there: "We took long walks and were always looking for this guy named Charlie." In this observation can be found the essence of the title character's nature.

Through the miracle of visual effects, Forrest meets his fair share of famous people - George Wallace, Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, and John Lennon. While mixing the real footage of these notables with new images featuring Hanks is not a seamless process, the result is nevertheless effective.

Forrest Gump has several messages, some of which are less obvious than others. The most frequently recurring theme is an admonition not to give up on life. Why surrender when you don't know what lies ahead? By contrasting Forrest's life with the lives of those around him, and by showing how the passage of time brings solace to even the most embittered hearts, the movie underlines this point.

Ultimately, however, any gripes about Forrest Gump are minor. This is a marvelous motion picture -- a mint julep on a hot summer's afternoon.

what i think about new york's symbol

Big apple

New York is called “big apple”, and people are absorbed in it.

New York is such a modern city including several different kinds of culture and has a collection of the most famous companies and brands. The chief Executive of NY State said that New York is the capital of the world. It is obvious, in NY, walking on the streets, different colors of people speaking different languages. New York is a city filled with imagines and surprise, and people come here with their dreams, ambition and curiosity.

Artists come to NY for finding a world of their own art; businessmen come to NY because they think they can earn more money here; politicians come here because UN is here. New York is just like a big apple and everybody wants to share with. Such a big apple that so many people like it; they are looking forward to it and want it. Although nobody knows how taste it is before they try, they think it can be great and pour to New York. Maybe the result is not satisfied, at that time, people can realize that the big apple is not easy to own or the big apple just seems nice not tastes well actually. Nobody knows, just try. People want snatch this big apple, somebody succeed and somebody failed, so some smile and some cry.

New York is such a big apple makes people happy, and also makes people sad.

Journals

topics: 1, Did the author's descriptions remind you of anyone you know? Who? In what ways?
2, Does this reading make sense to you? Do you find it believable and logical?

Yes, when i was reading this artical, my father jumped into my mind, my father is the first child of his family, and the word"parental" is a excellent word decribing how my father is.
But also i remind a friend of mine, who has a younger sister.I think he is not so parental and he always fighting with his younger sister. it s very fun that two opposite examples jumped into my mind and made me a lit bit confused.

I think this artical not really made sense to me because i have seen many examples which dont follow this rules. In my opinion ,this artical is logical, birth order can affect one's personality but not absolutely. One's personality is influenced by a lot of factors, such as what he exprienced, how his parents educated him, something like that. So, this artical can be logical but to me it's just an artical and not so believable.

Journey

There are a lot of cultural places in NY, including historical sites, modern constructions, museums, and so on.

ICP (International Center of Photography) is not such a famous or huge museum in
NYC, but it is a important place to a student whose major is related to design or art, also
to a cameraman or a shutterbug. I visited there once with a friend who is interested in
photography.

ICP is located in Time Square, and the show room is separated into two parts--first floor and lower floor. These days ,the topic of ICP is about the damage to environment. The first floor mainly shows some photography on this subject which are made by natural disaster ,and obviously the lower floor shows the photography of environment's damage made by human beings.

Photos on first floor show some disasters happened recent years, such as the tsunami of indian ocean, earthquakes and extinctions of some kinds of plants and animals. I watched a video about lacking of clean water in some poor countries. It showed the people's life both before and behind a natural disaster, it was definitely a huge difference, and touched me deeply.

Although more and more people put a focus on the impact of wars to environment, some destruction is inevitable. Photos on lower floor showed a part of ruin in Iraq ,and also reflect the live of Iraq people who are still suffering from war. Cameramen contrasted the photos took before war and the photos took after war. What left a deep impression on me is a series of photos took from a same angle, and on each photo there was a house of a Iraqi. Before the war ,he had a happy life ,living with his family, and after the war, the house ruined downright and his wife died ,he looked so disappointed, and made me fully realized how cruelty wars are. There were also some series of photos showed how a piece of land changed before and after a war. It was a valid way to describe the subject.

The purpose of this photo show is to appeal to the public to concern with the trouble we have now on environment. As long as there are more and more people realize the importance of environment protection ,we can have more entrances to a better life.
